Specific Uses of Information You Provide to Us

SMS Communications and Consent

When you provide your mobile phone number and opt in through our registration forms, service enrollment forms, or other opt-in mechanisms, you consent to receive the SMS communications described at the time of your opt-in.

SMS consent is obtained explicitly at the time you submit your information and opt in to receive messages. These messages may include service-related notifications, updates, reminders, informational messages, and other communications related to the services you have requested or registered for.

You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by following the opt-out instructions included in the message (such as replying “STOP”), or by contacting us directly. Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier.

SMS consent is used solely for communication purposes related to our services and is not used for unrelated marketing without your consent.

Visiting our website, accepting cookies, or being identified through IntentWave does not by itself constitute consent to receive marketing text messages.

Communicating with you

When you contact us, whether by telephone, through our website or by email, we collect the data you have given to us in order to reply with the information you need.

We record your request and our reply in order to increase the efficiency of our operations. We keep personally identifiable information associated with your message, such as your name and email address so as to be able to track our communications with you to provide a high-quality service.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link included in those messages, or contact us to request that we stop sending marketing communications.

Dealing with complaints

When we receive a complaint, we record all the information you have given to us.

We use that information to resolve your complaint.

If your complaint reasonably requires us to contact another person, we may disclose the information necessary to investigate or resolve it, subject to applicable law.

If the complaint relates to information on our website and we feel it is justified or if we believe the law requires us to do so, we shall remove the content while we investigate.

We may compile statistics from information relating to complaints to assess the level of service we provide, but not in a way that could identify you or any other person.

Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device by your web browser when you visit a website. They allow information gathered on one web page to be stored until it is needed for use on another, allowing a website to provide you with a personalized experience, and the website owner with statistics about the actions you have taken.

Some cookies may last for a defined period of time, such as one day or until you close your browser. Others remain until they expire or are deleted.

Your web browser should allow you to delete any you choose. It also should allow you to prevent or limit their use.

Our website uses cookies. They are placed by software that operates on our servers, and by software operated by third parties whose services we use.

Blocking some cookies may affect certain website functions. You can decline optional visitor identification and marketing cookies through our consent banner. We use cookies and similar technologies in the following ways:

  • To track how you use our website
  • To record whether you have seen specific messages we display on our website
  • To provide a consistent personalized experience across our site
  • To record your answers to surveys and questionnaires on our site while you complete them
  • To record the conversation thread during a live chat with our support team
  • To support visitor identification and marketing, subject to your consent choices

IntentWave Visitor Identification and Marketing

We use IntentWave and its partners to help identify website visitors. With your consent through our website’s consent banner, cookies, pixels, and similar technologies may collect visitor behavior, IP addresses, browser and device information, pages viewed, links clicked, and other browsing activity.

IntentWave and its partners may associate this activity with personal information obtained from other sources, including your name, email address, or postal address, even if you do not submit a form or sign into our website.

We use the resulting information for marketing and outreach, which may include email, direct mail, and personalized advertising. IntentWave’s visitor identification technology is activated only after you provide the relevant consent through our banner.

You can opt out of IntentWave’s visitor identification and related processing by visiting:

https://www.intentwave.com/opt-out

You may also contact IntentWave at su*****@********ve.com.

To withdraw your consent for our use of this technology or ask us to stop using information already received for marketing, contact us using the details at the end of this policy. Opting out through IntentWave does not necessarily delete information already held by us.

Browser Privacy Signals

Some web browsers and browser extensions let you send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal or a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal to the websites you visit.

Do Not Track. There is no common industry standard for how websites should respond to Do Not Track signals. Our website does not currently change its data collection in response to a Do Not Track signal.

Global Privacy Control. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of optional cookies, visitor identification, and the use of your information for targeted advertising on that browser or device. Our website will behave as if you had selected “Reject all” in our consent banner, even if you previously accepted optional cookies.

Tracking across other websites. If you allow optional cookies through our consent banner, third parties whose services we use, including analytics and advertising providers, may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use our website.

Anonymous visitor statistics

To understand how many people visit our website and which pages they view, we use Matomo, an analytics tool that runs on our own web server. We use it without cookies, so it does not store anything on your device, and it operates whether or not you accept optional cookies. Matomo records the pages you view, searches made on our website, the website or campaign that referred you, your browser and device type, and your IP address with the last two segments removed. When you place an order in our online bookstore, Matomo also records the order number, items and amount so we can see which pages and campaigns lead to purchases. We use this information only to produce aggregate statistics about how our website is used. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, we do not share it with third parties, and we delete the detailed records after 13 months.

Personal identifiers from your browsing activity

Requests by your web browser to our servers for web pages and other content on our website are recorded.

We record information that could indicate your approximate location, such as your IP address. We also record information reported by the software you are using to browse our website, such as the type of computer or device and the screen resolution.

We use this information in aggregate to assess the popularity of the webpages on our website and how we perform in providing content to you.

Browsing information may also be combined with information from third-party sources to identify you personally, even if you are not signed into our website, subject to the consent choices described in the Cookies section.

Disclosure and sharing of your information

Information we obtain from third parties

We may receive personal information, including contact details, from visitor identification providers such as IntentWave and its partners. These providers may match website activity to information they hold. We use the resulting information for the purposes described in this notice, subject to your consent and communication preferences.

We may disclose information to providers that support our website, visitor identification, contact management, communications, analytics, payment processing, and advertising. Depending on the service and your consent choices, these providers may receive contact information, online identifiers, device information, browsing activity, or transaction information.

Third-party providers may process information under their own privacy policies where they act independently. Their processing remains subject to applicable law.

Phone Number Use and Sharing

Phone numbers collected by us, including those provided for SMS communications, are used solely for purposes directly related to our services and communications with you.

We do not sell, rent, or share phone numbers with third parties for their own marketing or advertising purposes. Providers that help deliver our communications may process phone numbers on our behalf.

SMS opt-in information and consent are not shared with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

We comply with applicable SMS communication laws and guidelines, including consent and opt-out requirements.

Third-party advertising and tracking

Third parties whose services we use may use cookies, pixels, JavaScript, or similar technologies to collect information, personalize content, identify visitors, and measure advertising performance.

These providers may associate information collected on our website with information collected over time and across other websites or online services.

Our use of these technologies is subject to the consent choices described above. Third parties’ independent processing is also described in their own privacy policies.

Data may be processed outside the European Union

Our websites are hosted in the United States.

We may also use outsourced services in countries outside the European Union from time to time in other aspects of our operations.

Accordingly, data obtained within the UK, European Union, or any other country could be processed outside that country. Where applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we will use the required safeguards.

Management of Your Information

Access to your personal information

At any time, you may contact us to request a copy of personally identifiable information that we hold about you or ask us to correct inaccurate information.

After receiving your request, we will explain any information needed to process it and respond within the period required by applicable law.

Removal of information and marketing opt-out

If you wish us to delete personally identifiable information we hold about you or stop using it for marketing, you should contact us.

We may retain information where necessary to comply with legal obligations, maintain required records, resolve disputes, or for other purposes permitted by law.

Deletion may limit a service that requires the information. Declining optional marketing or visitor identification does not prevent you from using our basic website or contacting us.

To opt out of IntentWave’s visitor identification and related processing, visit https://www.intentwave.com/opt-out.

How We Protect Your Data

We take reasonable and appropriate technical, administrative, and physical security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, misuse, loss, alteration, or disclosure.

These measures may include, but are not limited to:

  • Secure servers and hosting environments
  • Encrypted data transmission where appropriate
  • Access controls limiting data access to authorized personnel only
  • Internal policies governing data handling and confidentiality
  • Regular review of data protection practices

While no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure, we are committed to maintaining safeguards designed to protect your personal information in accordance with applicable laws and industry standards.

Verification of your identity

When we receive a request to access, correct or delete personally identifiable information, we may take reasonable steps to verify your identity before disclosing information or taking action. This is important to safeguard your information.

For marketing opt-out requests, we will ask only for the information reasonably needed to identify and apply your preferences.

Retention period for personal data

Except as otherwise mentioned in this privacy notice, we keep your personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary:

  • To provide you with the services you have requested
  • To carry out the purposes described in this policy, including marketing consistent with your preferences
  • To comply with applicable law and recordkeeping requirements, including those of our tax authorities
  • To support a claim or defense in court

We consider the type of information, the purpose for which it was collected, your consent and opt-out choices, and applicable legal requirements when determining retention periods.

We may retain limited information needed to record and honor an unsubscribe or opt-out request.

Other Matters

If you are not happy with our privacy policy

If you are not happy with our privacy policy or if you have any complaint, you should tell us using the contact details below.

You can find further information about our complaint handling procedure by contacting us.

If a dispute is not settled, we hope you will agree to attempt to resolve it by engaging in good faith with us in a process of mediation or arbitration. Nothing in this policy limits rights or remedies available to you under applicable law.

Compliance with applicable law

We aim to handle personal information in accordance with the laws that apply to our activities. Where applicable law gives you additional privacy rights, you may contact us to exercise those rights.

Review of this privacy policy

We may update this privacy notice from time to time as necessary. We will post the updated version on this page and revise the “Last updated” date. We advise you to retain a copy for your records.

Where required by applicable law, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent before making changes to how we collect or use personal information.
